God’s Living Word – Psalm 56:3-4, NKJV

Cast Your Burdens on the Lord

3 Whenever I am afraid,

I will trust in You.

4 In God (I will praise His word),

In God I have put my trust;

I will not fear.

What can flesh do to me?

Commentary – Trust

I will trust are words of abiding confidence, even in times of distress. Alternating passages of pain and faith are characteristics of the lament psalms. I will praise His Word is the prevailing theme amplifying the truth that God is life and flesh is death.

Food for thought – Courage

These verses move us from fear to faith; if we focus on our problems, our anxiety will increase and our courage will dwindle. But when we turn from our problems to our God we find the confidence and courage we need in difficult times. (Notes from The Leadership Bible, NIV © 1998)
